Reaching Madurai from Rameswaram; the stay in Madurai and later reaching Kanniyakumari

Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai i visited in the evening after coming from Rameswaram. Frisking and metal detectors mark the entry point. The frisking  should be comprehensive and those assigned with the task of providing security should be alert all the time. In the temple i came across a family hailing from Tamil Nadu. We discussed about diversity that Indian template presented. WE discussed about the movies made in the South and how some of the action flicks had good box office collections. That doesn't necessarily mean that one need to imitate the stunts shown in the movies It took more than an hour to get darshan with the temple structure looking as vibrant as ever. Being a Saturday there was rush inside the temple and the proceedings were in order.

Later i  visited Meenakshi restaurant to have curd rice. A little before 12 a.m i left for Madurai railway station. Here in the station i came across a young boy hailing from minority section working in the middle east. Here we discussed about low cases of theft in some parts of middle east as stringent punishment was order of the day and  the case of faulty landing gear of a flight which had a miraculous escape. Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti bound for Delhi could be seen waiting for departure from Platform No 3. The number of berths overshadowed  the number of passengers and the frequent announcement could be heard about the train.

My train for Nagercoil left a little after 1 a.m. A little before six a.m the train reached Nagercoil and queries about taking an auto ride to Kanniyakumari meant i would have to shell out a big amount. i took a general ticket for onward journey to Kanniyakumari in the same train which i took from Madurai. In 20 minutes i reached Kanniyakumari. When i reached Sangam hotel Mr Nathan was there at the counter who expressed his inability to furnish accommodation in Sangam hotel and asked me to check into the other hotel run by the same group across the road. That hotel probably went by the name Triveni. I had to wait for more than hour before the room could be given. During this period i came across an associate professor working in Coimbatore College.  Primarily hailing from Udhagamandalam, the associate professor was part of a tourist group which had come to Kanniyakumari for sightseeing. After checking into the room which had a single bed and a fairly clean surrounding, i went for dosa in the triveni restaurant. A large part of Sunday was spent in the room and in the evening took a walk towards Vivekananda ashram.

The story on Ahmedabad textile mills by Gulam Jeelani and Hiral Dave in a national daily is quite interesting. The story on cow derivates by Gulam Jeelani is also quite interesting. The research on cow derivates can send amazing results. The govt of the day needs to promote research. Equally important is for the govt to rein in cow vigilantes.

Names of indian cities have been falling off the map story in NYT made interesting reading.

As for the stalemate in Bihar, when cracks develop in mahagathbandhan in the wake of no one putting in his papers, one can run a minority govt as was true in the Centre from '91 to '96. The right wing party in Bihar can abstain whenever voting comes up in Vidhan Sabha and this would enable the JDU-led govt to complete its tenure. The right wing party won't be part of the alliance nor it would be supporting the govt; only in the name of stability it would repeatedly abstain. By the way the right wing party won't be doing any favour to anyone; only in the name of stability it would take that small step. This scenario would be true if resignation doesn't come through of the politico concerned and exit window is shown.
