Reaching Gujarat State in India in the month of April

Reaching Gujarat State in India in the month of April

This thought crossed million times on how i should proceed to Gujarat State. For over two months i was making plans to go there which got postponed on one pretext or the other. Plane wasn't an option given the steep fares and least hospitality extended by them. The skyrocketing fares instilled enough fears. Fares starting for something like rs 9000 and upwards for Delhi-Rajkot sector brought discomfiture to entire proceedings. These skyrocketing fares are meant to cater to a class who are hand in  glove with men in khaki and dish out repeatedly to them cash grass. These air fares are meant for some set  of business guys residing in posh colonies of Delhi saddled with enough black cash honey whose drivers and other staff are a law unto themselves and pass filthy abuse and spit as you go besides them.

Mind you mighty per cent of people who are into business in posh colonies of Delhi float with black money and mask, quite willing to be a repeat offender and  right up to the task.  That's why crime groan has risen by leaps and bounds in this national capital where average person has to struggle extensively to avail two square meals.

Coming to my travel plans from Delhi there was no direct connectivity to Somnath in Gujarat State the place i wished to travel. First i had to make plans to reach Ahmedabad city. With a firm date decided and firm travel plan in place April 18 seem to be the best option.

In Delhi at Sarojini Nagar railway counter near residence Mr Pushpendu was kind enough to dispense tickets; first for Tatkal ticket to Ahmedabad (Ahmedabad Rajdhani) and second for ticket from Ahmedabad to Somnath (Ahmedabad Somnath Intercity). I had to be in the queue on two different occasions during the course of which i came across Mr Ayub Khan who wished to travel to Navsari in Gujarat. I also happen to  meet Mr Shubam Singh from Nagaland in North East  India. Meet automan Shyam Dulare who was equally helpful to provide the ride.

On a Thursday start from Safdarjung Enclave at 5.52 pm. Mr Karan is the automan of Kasganj district in UP State.  Reach New Delhi railway station in under 30 minutes. In Railway Station the National Rail Museum has some prized collections. Wall calendar coming for rs 250, heritage diary rs 250, pocket watch rs 840. In food court Mr Ram Naresh had no hesitation in dispensing black tea. Book stall cum chemist corner was handy for paper soap. Before the train could pull in Platform Number One took a seat in vicinity of the platform where Mr Nikhil Trivedi from Vadodra had a tale to tell. While he dwelt on  M S University in Vadodra in Gujarat and his history - famous by any stretch of imagination-  not infamous was the auto ride he took in the national capital of.Delhi. Just for a ride from Gurdwara Bangla Sahib to New Delhi railway station, roughly three kms or even less than that, he had to shell out Rs 80 while the actual fare would have been roughly rs 33. There was an urgent need to rein in autos in city of Delhi who were overcharging.   Tourists get repeatedly fleeced in a city of less harmony and peace.

Ahmedabad Rajdhani leaves at 7.58, Delhi Cantt comes at 8.30, Rewari 9.40. The next morning 6.16 Visit Again Clean City Abu Road at 6.18 comes Abu Road.  At 7.10 comes Palampur, 8.10 Unjha, 8.28 Maheshna, Sabarmati coming at 9.25 and Ahmedabad 9.47. In train meet Prateek  from Karnal originally hailing from Gujarat wishing to travel to Junagadh. Meet Mr Sonu from West Delhi. Meet Nitish Katheria from Naroda the area more famous for riots and those who recused from their responsibilities. Katheria who was into tent business seem less civilised and more keen to elicit what sort of job i was neck deep in with blogging feedback he could least make out. Kya tum job wob kar rahe ho? Yeh blogging kya hai? Kya Yeh building Ka Kaam hai ?  (Are you into any job/wob? What on earth is blogging? Is it something to do with building?).His wife had a miscarriage which he described as child  dismiss ho gaya (Child has been dismissed). That reminded me of how men in khaki place their men in train. In Ahmedabad  Porter Mr Noor bhai was kind enough to carry my bag.
Checked in Hotel Mukam in Khanpur with searing heat giving you hard times. The room in the  hotel on third floor was unbelievably hot with no rescue coming from fan or the phone. Meet Javed, Surendar and Rahul in the hotel. Took meals from Kalapi,  the one i frequented on previous visit. Meet Mr Abdul Razzaq, meet automan Mr Abdul Aziz. Tea vendor Mr Mohammad giving black tea on Friday morning near Relief  Road.

The ride to Somnath

Reach Ahemadabad station to take Somnath train . It is Porter Hanif bhai who carries the luggage. The Train starts at 10.42, Viramgam comes at 11.56, Surendranagar 12.57, Charmar 1.10, stops at 1.40 for over 30 minutes. Than comes at 2.20. The TTE R L Parmar is very helpful who says the train would make up for running late.  In Than Station there is a poster on Tarnetar fair. Wankaner comes at 2.52, Rajkot 3.45. Here i meet  Adi Ravani who has participated at national level in rifle shooting. Gondal comes at 4.40, Junagadh 6.02. Here i spot Veraval Amreli Junagadh metre gauge train.  There is an urgent need to uplift the running schedule of metre gauge trains and increase its footprint.

Keshod comes at 6.40, Veraval 7.35 and Somnath 7.58.  In the station premises i can spot only one auto with automan urging me to take his auto,  with the benefit coming in the form of he spitting with full venom next to me when i am about to hand over cash. Take room in Tanna Guest House with word put in by Mr Bharat Ghadiya. The stay in Somnath was for three days with enough  support coming in from different quarters except for shantilal the laundryman who had wild mood swings and stooped to spit with full venom next to me when i went to collect clothes from him. He was not prepared or had less will to deliver the clothes at the hotel where i was staying. The three days spent in Somnath were amidst a hot weather that refused to abate. There are no palatable eating joints near the temple and one has to search for such outlets. This time i did not have the courage to visit Veraval, as i  had already booked the Somnath-Dwarka train ticket from Delhi. So i missed the opportunity to meet Mr  Chauhan of Cyber Town the place from where i did stories in the past. Booking ticket from net was a good experience as it delivered the desirable seat with no need to know who had the all powerful feat.

The Somnath Temple is known for its Grandeur and Grace and attempt should  be made to put Observe Silence tag at different points inside the temple for the convenience of those reciting hymns/ putting in prayers for a longer time.
