Visiting Harat Nizamuddin Railway Station in New Delhi One More Time

Visiting Harat Nizamuddin Railway Station in New Delhi One More Time

As i took an Auto mentored by Mr Damodar of Bihar who was kind enough to drop me at Sarojini Nagar metro station it was time to visit Nizamuddin Railway Station.  The metro for Nizamuddin station left at 1.35 pm. Inside the coach the feat recorded by Delhi Metro went like this: Janakpuri West Metro Station has the tallest escalator in India with an elevation of 15.6 metres.

Stations on the way were Dilli Haat INA, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar (interchange here for violet line) Vinobapuri and Ashram. Happen to meet Mr Navel from Australia who was here as a tourist and with whom i discussed about bushfires razing parts of his country. Reached Nizamuddin metro station at 1.50 and as i came out there was a board bold and bountiful: Northern Railway welcomes you. Hazrat Nizamuddin Station

At the Ticket Vending Machine Mr R S Giri was dispensing tickets and he was helpful and kind enough to hand over Platform (PF) ticket. Spate of announcements for different trains greeted me which included Goa Express to depart from PF 7 at 3 pm, Bandra Nizamuddin Garibrath to depart at 3.35 from PF 7, Kerala Sampark Kranti from Chandigarh to Kochuveli  arriving on PF 4, Gondwana Express to depart from PF 4 at 3.20 pm, Shakurbasti Palwal EMU arriving on PF 4, Andaman Express arriving at 2.28 on PF 4, Shreedham Express to Jabalpur standing on PF 1, train number 18507 from Visakhapatnam to Amritsar Hirakud Express to arrive at 3.30 pm, delayed by 15 minutes and Agra Cantt Delhi Passenger arriving at 3.49 pm.

I was lucky enough to meet Mr Mani going to Chennai by Chennai Rajdhani.  He has worked in Indian Railways for 40 years. His son is an architect in Okhla in Delhi. Meet snack vendor Mr Chandrapal on PF 1. On PF 3 there is the lone PCO STD ISD booth, something to cherish. Hope the Delhi city and cities across India get flooded with PCO booths/ coin dipping phone stands. In the city of Bengaluru there are coin dipping phone stands. Meet Mr Prabhakaran going to Chennai by Chennai Rajdhani.

Meet Buddhist Monk Mr Champa with whom i discuss about famous monastery in Bylakuppe in Karnataka State in South India. Meet Mr Udayan pursuing Bachelor in Biology from London. Has Gained scholarship whereby he has to pay 50 per cent of tuition fee and this time round he was carrying huge luggage and headed towards Gwalior. AS i decided to leave i met Mr Giri once more and his demeanor suggested he was a person with simple habits.

Meet Mr Rahul Kumar who gives token at metro station. Meet Mr Daimary who does frisking and hails from Assam in North East India. Took auto mentored by Mr Shamim who is upright in his observation that grandiose ads placed by a party in different publications won't fetch votes and it is the party with the broom symbol that he is going to vote for the work done.

It was a visit to Nizamuddin Station flanked by a desire to know the cleanliness in different platforms which was noteworthy and personnel of Indian Railways coming with a demeanor that was out and out praiseworthy.
