Remembering My Grandfather Jaideo Rajhans

Remembering My Grandfather Jaideo Rajhans

My Grandfather Jaideo Rajhans was pillar of strength for entire family, neighbourhood and all those who came in contact with him. A man of versatile talent he led the freedom struggle from precincts of Sultanganj In Bhagalpur District In Bihar State which had its echo all the way to Bengal and Delhi. A man with simple means his association with religious preacher Andh Swami sustained him to play innings that brought fruitful results to family and those aspiring to free India from English Regime. English Regime and the functioning thereafter may have distressed many but he was least to get agitated and led the battle against the same from the front.

Married To Kiran Mai My Grandmother

Married to Kiran Mai (Grandmother) he raised four sons with all goodwill that he had acquired over the years. It was none other than Andh Swami who during course of interaction told My Grandfather that he would have four sons going by the names Shiv Shankar Rajhans, Gouri Shankar Rajhans, Karuna Shankar Rajhans and Gyan Shankar Rajhans. True to the last mile he was blessed with four sons and all of them shined in different capacities. In the shadow of English Rule the four sons were raised with whatever means that were up and running and with full alertness. Vigilance and sharpness were maintained all along.

Taking Tuition From Upendra Master; Getting Freedom For India Was Not A Distant Goal

For four sons taking tuition from Upendra Master and getting up as early as 4 AM and reminiscing the biography of Indian leaders of that time like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru and sticking to dictum of be good and be laborious proved beneficial in the long run. When My Grandfather was sent to prison for taking the battle against the English Rulers to the Opposition Camp, it were none other than Bengali Families who lend support with the defining message that perseverance would hold them in good stead. Released from prison My Grandfather lost no time to instill among his followers that freedom was not that distant goal and steadfastness would be the backdrop of freedom movement. Once India was freed My Grandfather was instrumental in establishing schools and colleges in and around Sultanganj. He always believed a person well read is well guided. Given his role in freedom movement a blossoming future in politics would have been easy for him to access but he would have none of that. He confided to his well wishers that bringing awareness in society by lending teaching tools to the last person in the street was what he desired to do and here some number of educational institutes in Sultanganj functioning and credit for that goes to him. He was never after power; in fact he wanted to empower women and those on the margins of society.

Four Sons Have Played Esteemed Innings

His four sons have played esteemed innings; Shiv Shankar Rajhans a renowned physician having gained higher education mileage from London and US, My Father Gouri Shankar Rajhans A Distinguished Fulbright Scholar in North Carolina, Holding High Rank in Hindustan Times Newspaper Coming From Delhi, A Novelist, A Member of Parliament And A Diplomat, Karuna Shankar Rajhans Chief Conservator of Forest (IFS) And Gyan Shankar Rajhans A Famed Engineer And Religious Preacher.

My Father Gouri Shankar Rajhans Penned Tales

My Grandfather visited us in New Delhi when we were staying in proximity to Karol Bagh in mid-70s. Anand Shankar Rajhans his eldest grandson spent a good amount of time with him gaining enough wisdom and foresight. My (Puneet Rajhans) association with him was not that long and yet I can vouch that the insight I have in life is much due to blessings from him. His other grandsons Ashish Rajhans, Amit Rajhans and Mohit Rajhans are all doing well much to do with acumen their father Gyan Shankar Rajhans gained. My Grandfather Jaideo Rajhans's Life Mirrored A Note That Honesty And Sagacity Brings Wonders In Abundance. Though My Grandfather is not with us since June 1976 the house that he built in Sultanganj by dint of hard work is wonders of wonders. My Father Gouri Shankar Rajhans has in the past penned enough tales of his affiliation to a family whose premier member strived hard to see the four sons gave back to the society as and when the opportunity came. My Father Gouri Shankar Rajhans humble innings as Lok Sabha MP and taking care of his constituency people every now and then illustrates much of that. Having returned from Laos and Cambodia My Father Gouri Shankar Rajhans writings in different publications was with the intent to see relief reach the distressed lot. My Father Gouri Shankar Rajhans sharing anecdotes about his association with My Grandfather are still fresh in my memory.
