The Walk From Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) To Katra In Jammu And Kashmir State In India

The Walk From Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) To Katra In Jammu And Kashmir State In India

Having had fleeting glimpse of Goddess Vaishnodevi Ma I was out of temple premises well before 5.30 pm. Mind you the morning aarti is from 6.15 am to 8 am and evening aarti is from 6.15 to 8 pm. This was precisely the reason why there was no rush as I entered the temple premises well before the aarti was to commence. In the temple premises there is frisking at three stages and this is necessary as Jammu And Kashmir Is A Border State. While ascending from Katra well after Ardhkuwari there is frisking at three places. And this is in the interest of devotees.

Announcement For Devotees To Set On Return Journey

Announcement about huge flow of devotees on way to Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) from Katra and those who had visited the sacred temple should vacate the area and set on return journey to Katra is audible. I head to Manokamna Bhawan Phase II and have two sets of coffee. The coffee without sugar can't be found. The coffee too is lukewarm given the rush Manokamna Bhawan is witnessing. There is Manokamna Bhawan Phase I as well where I find Mr Mulk Raj from Bharkh whom I met in October 2017 during my visit that time. When I told him about my previous visit and having given him Lord Venkateswara Picture he point blank refuses to recognise me and says he was not there in Manokamna Bhawan's Cash Counter in 2017. I move on with no hard feelings. The STD ISD PCO booth run by Air Tel is handy as calls can be made with no botheration to visit cloak room and take out your cell and post conversation deposit it in the cloak room. Mr Mahinder is running the phone booth and he is a real buddy. This time round I don't use cloak room as I am not carrying anything and descending and ascending the cloak room is a big ask. I made a suggestion way back in October 2017 that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) should raise a cloak room next to JKM Bhojanalaya as this would bring comfort to Vaishno Devi Ma devotees.

Starting From Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) For Katra

Post coffee and post call to Safdarjung Enclave residence I set on return journey to Katra. It was Mr  Shahnawaz who carried my luggage while descending from Vaishno Devi to Katra in October 2017. Before leaving I meet two men in khakhi hailing from Jharkhand State In India. I leave Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) at 6.27 pm. I meet a group from Kolhapur from Maharashtra State In India. There are boards on the way of shooting stone areas and devotees need to watch out for and continue walking. I meet a group which has one among its member wearing mundu (mundu is essentially worn in Kerala State In India) and members of this group are probably from Hindi Heartland ( Punjab). With no break I keep walking and reach Himkoti after 7 pm. I continue to walk and reach Ardhkuwari at 7.40 pm. All across the route I come across sanitation workers of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) clearing the path taken by devotees. The cleanliness drive by SMVDSB should be hailed.

Here Walnuts And Walnuts With Cover Galore

Chilled drinking kiosks are handy. There is sighting of sole drum beater here and there and people take comfort listening to their beats. I take B Natural Fruit Drink and it brings spring to my step. There are nestle and coffee day outlets with none serving apple juice. From Ardhkuwari as well stores/shops far and wide are visible catering to varied taste. Here walnuts with cover galore and there are umpteen shops dealing with that. I sit for a while to take water and move on. By the time I reach Banganga it is 9.05 pm. I hail auto driven by Mr Sonu and reach Katra bus stand at 9.25 pm. Mind you the road from Banganga to Katra bus stand is not well lit and here administration needs to do something. I book flight ticket (GO AIR which has been rechristened as Go First) from Yatrika Tour And Travels (opposite Phawara Chowk, Near Durga Hotel) with Mr Rakesh Sharma doing the needful. Take room in Tilak Yatri Hotel with personnel Mr Biju extending all possible help. Later take Butter Milk and Idly from Jewels restaurant run by JKTDC (Jammu Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation). Butter milk was something to relish. I take bananas from fruit vendor and retire to my room. All through night I am not able to sleep despite being physically tired and leave the bed a little after 4.30 am to search for black tea. I take five sets of black tea with tea vendor Mr Rai Kumar Sharma showing the intent to prepare the same. While taking tea I came across buses headed to different centres in the States Of Punjab And Himachal Pradesh. I take breakfast from Luxmi Vaishno Dhaba comprising tomato potato vegetable, tandoori roti and plain curd.

Thursday was a historic day as I not only reached Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) from Katra, the descent taking place few hours later and reaching Katra the same day. Thursday was historic for the umpteen occasions I gained fortitude to ascend and descend with Goddess Vaisho Devi guiding me every hour. The entire pilgrimage which started from Banganga at 2 pm, reaching Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) at 4.25, leaving Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) at 6.27,  reaching Banganga at 9.05 and Katra thereafter at 9.25 illustrated the trust I had in Goddess.

We strive for peace be it in Congo or Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is in neighbourhood and there are lessons to take from this episode. Peace should reign each and every hour.

The Trek From Katra To Vaishno Devi Shrine In Jammu And Kashmir State In India

The Trek From Katra To Vaishno Devi Shrine In Jammu And Kashmir State In India

As I reached Katra it was time to scan around. As I alighted from taxi whose AC was non functional the administration would be advised to run AC Buses from Jammu Airport to Katra or taxis with no AC. That won't be a drain on resources. One hasn't thought of an airport in Katra and if it could come in due time it would be good for devotees. Perhaps the requisite land for the same could be a challenge. Coming to my trip alighting from taxi I discovered Jewels Restaurant (Run By Jammu Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation - JKTDC). First I purchased hand sanitiser and a soap and later stepped inside Jewels. The gentleman at the counter was kind enough to make call to my Safdarjung Enclave Residence. Later I settled for Veg Biryani with curd and serving gentleman was Mr Pawan. Post meals I collected biometric entry card (Yatra Parchi) and took auto driven by Mr Rampal and left for Banganga. On the way the entry fee for auto was Rs 10 and I reached Banganga in no time and this ride of less than 2 km was for Rs 150. This steep fare is all that automen bank on and the number of rides each day are few and far. Those devotees with little resources at their disposal prefer to walk from Katra bus stand to Banganga and they are not handful but scores of them. Even those teeming with resources prefer to walk from bus stand to Banganga. As I alighted from auto Mr Mushtaq wished to know whether I would be comfortable with a horse ride. I told him I would walk. This time round at Banganga there were enough pithoos (those who carry your luggage), ponies (those who give you horse ride) and palkis.

Frisking Point At Banganga: Reaching Ardhkuwari

At the frisking point at Banganga there was commotion all around as there was no single line and there was no social distancing. If administration could renew efforts to maintain single queue it would be better for all. Post frisking which was in-depth I began to walk precisely from 2 pm.  Hardly I had walked 500 metres (the first six kms trek is quite steep) I was not able to maintain myself with the mask on. I decided for a horse ride and for the next five kms I settled for that and reached Ardhkuwari at 2.55 pm with the horseman Mr Shyampal charging Rs 650 for the services rendered.  Mind you from Banganga  there are shops in plenty on either side for the first three kms notably dry fruits, massage centres and food outlets. All along the 12 km journey there are chilled drinking water kiosks. From Ardhkuwari it is mostly plain surface and one has to walk five kms to reach Vaishno Devi. There are battery cars as well with Karnataka (Karnataka Is A State In South India) number plates that take you to Vaishno Devi.

Reaching Himkoti; Reaching Vaishno Devi (Bhavan)

From Ardhkuwari I walked with no break and reached Himkoti at 3.32. Here is a resting point for devotees maintained by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB). With no halt either at Himkoti and other places I continued my onward journey on foot and reached Vaishno Devi (Bhavan) at 4.25. It took under two-and-a- half hours to reach Bhavan from Banganga. And this experience was exhilarating. One comes across  STD/PCO kiosk and it is handy for devotees. I made a phone call to Safdarjung Enclave Home. Post call and after finishing prayer paper which was short I entered the lane at 5.05 pm that took one to Vaishno Devi Shrine. There was no rush and I was in sanctum sanctorum a little after 5.15. I had a fleeting glimpse of Sacred Pindis representing Goddess Vaishno Devi and bowed before the same and most importantly I had Pious Darshan.  I gave picture of Lord Venkateswara/ Lord Govinda to the priest and left the sanctum sanctorum. I bowed before idol of Lord Hanuman and came out of temple at 5.25. This Fleeting Glimpse was quite elevating and I wish Goddess Vaishno Devi continue to shower blessings for trillion centuries. I Wish Goddess Vaishno Devi Remains Happy In All Situations. Vaishno Devi Shrine Is Wonder Of Sorts And Welcomes Millions And Millions Of  Devotees Each Year. I Hope I And Others Get Opportunities For Long To Visit Vaishno Devi Shrine.

Leaving For Vaishno Devi Shrine In Jammu And Kashmir State In India

Leaving For Vaishno Devi Shrine In Jammu And Kashmir State In India

In no time on Thursday I began the search for morning flight from Delhi to Jammu. The sole motive was to have a glimpse of Vaishno Devi the same day. I could zero in on a flight departing at 9.50 am. When I booked the ticket they sought Trip ID to get ticket printout. Soon I received a message that web check-in was mandatory and to click on the link. I was functioning with no smartphone and just normal mobile and to click on the link was next to impossible. I fed the link in the laptop and it took its own sweet time to get the boarding pass issued. For the seat to choose one had to pay extra and this web check-in looked to be tiresome. Five sheets of paper came out in an attempt to get boarding pass. I was travelling after two year hiatus and these new set of rules I was not familiar with and they somewhat looked to be perplexing. I was travelling empty handed as depositing the luggage at Vaishnodevi luggage counter and retrieving clothes and other essentials is a big ask. I was not carrying mobile and belt as well as these too needed to be deposited at the counter.

Reaching Delhi Airport T 3

Getting taxi for the airport was the next issue I had to grapple with. Mr Nirmal Singh was at the wheels and I left Safdarjung Enclave home at 7.40. Went past Bhikaji Cama Place, Rao Tula Ram Marg and reached airport at 8. As usual there was rush. A woman who had arrived from Kota in Rajasthan State In India was ahead of me and she reasoned with CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) (CISF has been mandated with the task of securing the premises of airports across India) personnel that she be allowed despite coming much earlier. I entered from Gate 3 with CISF personnel Mr R U Chaudhary verifying the ticket and ID. On display board there were flights to different destinations like Mumbai, Darbhanga, Bengaluru and other places and there were no less than 50 flights for the next two to three hours. As I searched for phone booth and at rear end STD/PCO booth could be sighted. There was no personnel manning the counter. In December 2017 there was one gentleman going by the name Mr Harshit Narayan Jha at the counter. He had been working at the airport since 1994. Post local call I left Rs 10 coin.

Announcement Made For Wearing Mask And Maintaining Social Distancing

Frisking was done by a gentleman who was polite and I can't recall his name. Post frisking I could not trace my wallet and with help coming from CISF personnel I got my wallet. There were stores and stores all across airport with alert staff in attendance. At Gate number 48 which was meant for Spice Jet Flight 8373 to Jammu there was heavy rush and I took a seat next to gate number 49 reserved for passengers going to Srinagar. Mind you Jammu and Srinagar are cities in Jammu And Kashmir State In India. There were frequent announcements at regular intervals audible here that wearing mask was mandatory and maintaining social distancing. There were few passengers who heeded to this request and I saw no reason why passengers were not wearing mask. The Jammu Flight took off at 10.09 with Commander Ms Agarwal and Co pilot Mr Singh at the helm. Seated next to window I was biding time with nothing else to do. There were no conversations whatsoever. The flight landed in Jammu at 11.06. There was announcement that that no photos be clicked as it was a defence airport and here I believe these smartphones are a clear waste given the temerity of people to click pictures every now and then. By the time I got out of aircraft it was well past 11.30. Welcome To City Of Temples hoarding was what I was greeted with and as I reached prepaid taxi counter the gentleman Mr Arvinder Singh seem to be in two minds on what taxi to dispense with. One has to splurge Rs 1825 for the ride to Katra. Katra is the place from where one has to trek to Vaishno Devi Shrine. Here in Jammu Airport if they could make arrangements for buses going to Katra it could benefit many. The ride from Jammu was in a taxi where the taximan would frequently put the smartphone in a speaker mode and abuse could be heard coming from other side. Most of the time he was on smartphone and this is risky while driving. The ride was ordinary to say the least. It is better to take taxi from a counter which is just outside the airport. The road to Katra has four tunnels.  The road has enough twists and turns and is built and maintained by National Highways Authority Of India (NHAI) and hats off to them. On the way one has to shell out another Rs 150 as toll tax. The ride from airport which started at 11.50 was amidst an environ where securing the surroundings was the agenda to be followed. Reached Katra a little before 1 pm.

In Adivo Alladivo on Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC) that was beamed on April 30 featured Ms Shweta, Ms Joshika, Chakravakillo and others. Special mention made by judge of Ms Joshika. We hail SVBC for beaming proceedings from Tirumala.

This Nathu's sweets would be reduced to ashes for the valour shown in releasing abuse for no fault of mine. I stood shocked and left the premises soon. Not far away is a newspaper whose staff and woman owner pass abuse and treat ordinary citizens with enough disdain. Thereafter I took comfort in metro ride and reached the destination safely. And here they want to impose Hindi and Hindi abuse across country.

Move To Impose Hindi Language Across India Would Stand Defeated

No language can be imposed in any part of India. English would continue to be link language in India and any attempt to impose Hindi would be defeated. Hindi is spoken in North India alone and in South India Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam are largely spoken. Even in Goa (Goa Is A State In West India) the people prefer local dialect.

What a fall for Sanskrit. As reports came in of a medical student in Madurai in Tamil Nadu State In India forced to take oath in Sanskrit the move was decried by people by and large. These moves are meant to create divisions in society and what a fall for new delhi's black merchant (minister black). Divisions are being created across India and repeatedly by those at the helm who are not familiar that dialect changes after every 10 mile in India. To keep India United Let The Vibrant Colours Flourish.

We believe that with front coach of Delhi Metro reserved for women a time may come when more than one coach would be reserved for them as they are the heart and soul of world. If women are to be saved from getting into malpractices, education for them is a necessity. Educate them and leave rest to the Lord.
