Amidst Chants

The long night i spent in the middle of the city amidst chants of Goddess followed with immersion of the idol was the most satisfying experience. Had been waiting for the loading of the idol in the lorry since ten past four in the afternoon. When the idol procession finally started it was well past seven and it took a little over three hours to reach the Prasanna Kumar Ghat. It was 11.30 and the search was for a public transport that could take me to Central Avenue.
With no meals outlet open, the walk from Metro to Central Avenue was a bit tiring and the number of hours walked on Thursday could be a record one. From where i got the thrust to do all that brisk activities i engaged in could be traced to the next to the idol stationed lorry walking i indulged in since half past 7. Thoughts did cross my mind at Burra Bazar that i should call it quits but something was prodding me to keep glued to the last step. And by grace of the Goddess i kept hanging there till the last moment.
Best wishes to Shree Krishna Mistaan Bhandar for the kachori and tea served; best wishes to Lakhanlal (even though on some occasions the meal may have led to a minor upset); best wishes to C Guha looking for a job and with whom i could connect for a while; best wishes to Jhalmuri for swift movement and intake of bhelpuri; best wishes to all those tea vendors for serving the tea i desired; best wishes to the boy in the lodge who cleans the room and is never on a short fuse; best wishes to a resident staying next to Dum Dum; best wishes to all residents of the city for the sweat they undergo given the river that flows in the middle of the city. Perhaps had the National Capital been in the middle of a swift and heavy river (flowing right in the middle), the sweat factor would have made the city a liveable one. And here the National Capital is being Milked for National Mileage.
