The Bhagalpur Blockbuster by Puneet Rajhans

The Bhagalpur Blockbuster

THere was pragmatic-and-not-pessimistic proy, stable-and-not sermonising Sheikh and not down-and-not out Dohrab on a panel of Naya Daur Theatre. They deliberated and dissected the polls in the Hindi heartland which never had the habit of throwing surprises when wife-husband ruled the roost. They traced the new trend in 2005 to the strained ties between the two whose lolipops and freebies had failed to enthuse the audience. As the trio sat on the banks of Ganges, to gauge the level of comfort the ruling benches were in, the trio declared in unison that verdict of 2005 would be repeated in 2010.
Their claim was based on all those who had attended the gathering of Big G and Big N. The number who came barefooted and those who lost their sleepers on the way was clinically recorded and so was recorded the venom they spewed at each other.
The trio believed that the days of queens and kings being history the duo should register themselves at employment exchanges across the country as the seats they would secure and the support they would eventually get would lead to a growing call from depleting followers that they need to seek a new profession.

The trio even looked at the demands the public at large had placed before the political class. Apart from 50 per cent concession on public transport if any other member of the family took the same transport, the public wanted free meals and lodging at all the unutilised godowns and community halls of the state. As a multipurpose card was sougth to seek these benefits, subsidised meals to all approaches of momuments of historical and archaeological importance were demanded. Precisely for the benefits it would usher for the state exchequer. This one act of the state would increase the footfalls to these sites and also increase the brisk sales of vendors.
Though the trio didn't attempt to cover the entire gamut of demands the public wanted to put before the political class, what was of concern for the aam janata was what food they had and what water they took and the room they shared during their stay in Bhagalpur and beyond. The series of assaults that visits the stomach and the series of revolt that the body parts are witness to are hazards of modern ways of earning your livelihood. The other regret being the trio didn't issue a joint statement post Bhagalpur tryst. Perhaps one expects the same from another trio of K,A and G who would at some point of time gather under single unbreakable roof to dissect and divulge the details of the candidates contesting in Timbaktu. Post this tryst the Timbaktu Tormentors can hope for a break from all forms of earning and swindling activities.
