When taps went dry in Chennai Central

When taps went dry in Chennai Central and it was still two hours away for the train to depart. The summer months lead to insufficient supply of water to stations in metros and Chennai Central was no different. as i looked forward to a journey by west coast i was reminded of the trials and tribulations i had been through to reach the destination of my choice. The National Capital had become some sort of a monster given the high stakes some had placed in getting on the nerves of others. The big money these monsters were playing with and big monsters they had unleashed made it entirely appropriate to look for a setting that was calm and serene. It won't be appropriate to logically conclude whether the place of your choice has been attained or you are in close proximity to that.

Having stayed in Chennai in the past , the time of arrival was odd and this led me to fight different odds. With accommodation in place and a train ticket that showed W/L 2 i was confident the train could be boarded with the commute involving the day and no night. The stay at Chennai Central was comfortable except for the taps that had gone dry and the sanitary worker taking offence to washing hands from a tap that had visible drops coming. The scuffle settled i moved forward to board the train only to come across the sea of humanity that had converged there. This was in sharp contrast to the crowd that hardly looked menacing in the mid-90s when in the dead of night the numbers who collected there were few. Even during day time the collection was less than what you see during nights now.
The train located i moved to occupy the seat. Since the W/L status hadn't changed much the boarding was logical and lawful. I reached the destination not on time but at least with the plate of peace that was not in short supply.
Some could argue that it is sheer wastage of resources and time by settling in a place where nothing worthwhile is happening. All activities can't be traced to the returns it gives you. The best barometer should be how peaceful has been your environs given no maddening rush from your side.
