The ride from Somnath to Ahmedabad

The ride from Somnath to Ahmedabad

With a stay of three days in Somnath, i left for Ahmedabad on a Sunday. Left Somnath a little after one in the afternoon. In a shared auto reached Veraval. I took an apple from one Gaffar bhai who repeated that for scouring apples one could visit him as his cart/trolley is opposite the bus stand. Left Veraval at 3.32 after a wait for half an hour. Took the Una-Rajkot bus which was on CNG and of an old make but comfortably pliable. As we left the Veraval ST bus stand we went  past Indian Rayon. At 4.05 go past chorwad (here not sure whether it is the same chorwad or some other name). At 4.32  go past a board that spells the proposed Keshod bye - pass, length 11km.

Reach keshod at 4.40 and the entire city is drenched . The bus stand has been renovated with new pointers and platforms. After a wait for 10 minutes, the bus leaves with the area again splashed by rains. Reach Vanthali at 5.18, go past moti palace township at 5.25. Opposite moti palce there are large tracts of fertile land and later i discover it to be Junagadh krishi vishvavidalaya. Reach Junagadh bus stand at 5.35.  Reach Jetpur at 6.45 and adjacent to the bus stand platform is a picture of Sai in a blue outfit. Reach Gondal at 7.40. Finally reach Rajkot at 8.20 which again is caught in light showers.

Take food from Jalaram dinning hall which is outside the Rajkot bus stand. Gujarati thali coming for 50rs with the never-to-be-missed curd the entire meals come for 60rs . Leave Rajkot at 10.15. At 11.15 Ahmedabad is 148 km, at 11.45 Ahmedabad is 115. At 12.20 Ahmedabad is 102 km.  Just after 2 in the morning reach Ahmedabad and from Gita Mandir ST bus stand take an auto for railway station. Take the aravalli express from Ahmedabad at half past five and reach Ajmer after 5 in the evening.
