Expressing Gratitude To People of Somnath in Gujarat in India

Expressing Gratitude To People of Somnath in Gujarat in India

I won't miss an opportunity to express my gratitude to different set of people i came across in Somnath  in Gujarat in India. Mr Mahesh of Hotel Radhe in Somnath was helpful by a large quarter as he prepared meals for me which was more than palatable. On the first day in Somnath temple which i entered a little after 7.30 am and left after 3.15 pm, putting in prayers and reciting Hanuman Chalisa for long was something i relished. Mr Junaid of Amul store was kind enough to dish out butter milk. Same expression of gratitude would go out for Mr Abbas and Mr Sohaib of Dilkush Tea Centre, Narain bhai and his son of Chamunda Tea Centre, Mr Javed, Mr Sunny, Kadi ben of Hotel Radhe. Mr Jayesh of Jalaram Travels who was present in Somnath during early part of my stay had left for election duty as narrated by his wife. The help extended by Mr Raju and Mr Rajesh of Somnath Trust office can be recalled with ease. Tuesday after attending morning aarti and having returned to room i recited Sunderkand. This was followed by another visit to Somnath Temple where i was witness to some portion of afternoon aarti.

Search for different hotels

Later having returned to room i had two sets of metthi paratha and two sets of curd and this was followed by search for hotels where i would like to stay in future. That search took me to Om Guest House which has Mahendrabhai the owner, Hotel Tirth with Mr Ajeet at the counter, Hotel Shivam with Akram bhai at the counter (Hotel Shivam belongs to Mr Kishore Barai and his son Amit bhai who now stay in Rajkot), Hotel Deep which is opposite Lohana Mahajan Vadi which has Deepak bhai and Dinesh bhai, Hotel Shivkrupa which has Vijaybhai V Devaliya Prajapati, Hotel Krishna with Mr Ramesh at the counter, Hotel Nandi with Mr Vipul J Raja. Hotel Nandi has been renovated in recent months. All these hotels and staff seem to be in a mood where they would like to extend hospitality as and when i wished to stay. Hotel Nandi staff wished to know whether i would be coming in group or solo.

In Goswami book store i met Mr Goswami's son and collected writing notebook. I collected Gillette shaving cream from Sabri Store of Mr Ali Ahmed bhai who was more keen to have me at his store for a longer duration. Mr Qasim of nearby store was equally candid and helpful. Mr Suresh bhai of Somnath trust's merchandise store inside the temple was cheerful along with his child. Equally cheerful was Mr Afzal of Paavan tours and travels with laundryman Shantilal introducing his son Som who too was engaged in his laundry business apart from studying. Mr Bharat Ghadiya of VIP Guest House was kind enough to book room for me in Tanna Guest House.

Grandeur and Grace

The Somnath Temple is known for its Grandeur and Grace replete with history that is not easy to miss. Having a footfall that is up and rising in different seasons, the three sets of aarti during the entire day accompanied with playing of Shehnai (Shehnai is a South Asian music instrument), ringing of bells and beating of drums which is high point of its revelation and stay. The Somnath temple is on the banks of sea and there are boulders set in to withstand any rising tide and sight can reach miles into the sea flanked with boats of different shapes and size. The sense that you get from Somnath Temple is Somnath Jyotirlinga is easy to access and easy to reach, a prayer or two to Somnath Jyotirlinga sends vibes that is easy to decipher and discover. The temple and its premises is squeaky clean to the last mile.

On Tuesday evening post evening aarti i visited the temple again. Narain bhai has his shop up and running by 3.30 in the morning with his son filling in late evening. To put it again i won't forget hospitality extended by Mr Mahesh of Hotel Radhe and auto drive provided by Daddoo bhai to Somnath railway station. This visit to Somnath temple would remain etched in my my memory for long. This Gujarat State is peaceful and peace and harmony is the reigning sentiment.
