The stay in Gujarat was for over 10 days

The stay in Gujarat was for over 10 days

The stay in Gujarat was for over 10 days with enough moments to raise a praise. By and large the people were good, the search for black tea did not make me come across anyone who was rude. I won't miss an opportunity to express gratitude to Mr Abbas and Mr Shoaib of Dilkush Tea Centre in Somnath, same sentiment would go out for Narainbhai of Chamunda Tea Centre. I would remain ever grateful to Mr Mahesh of Hotel Radhe and the remaining staff. Some hotel men sought to know when i would be visiting Somnath again and would i like to stay in their hotel. As for weather in Somnath the heat was tolerable with breeze blowing now and then. What to watch out for was the food we take and the water we drink. Here Hotel Radhe came handy

As for Dwarkadhish a special word of appreciation for Sanjay bhai who handed over laminated pictures of Lord Dwarkadhish, Staff of Gandhi General store, Staff of Agarwal Seva Sadan, Marubhai of Byet Dwarka who provided a ride to Hanuman Dandi Temple and Hudabhai and his brother from Nageshwar. Different sets of butter milk came handy to thwart any challenge that came from heat that showed no signs of abating.

As i reached Ahmedabad from Dwarkadhish after having stayed in Hotel Mukam the next hotel on my itinerary was Hotel Relax near Palica Bazar. I had personally met Ilyasbhai a day before and he showed his willingness to play host. Next day when i reached Hotel Relax to take a room, Ilyasbhai point blank refused to hand over room citing last minute online booking by a customer who would vacate in an hour or so. I told him i will wait for that time in reception but he was in no mood to listen to me. He was paying heed to the request of department men in plain clothes who had visited the hotel before me and given instructions to not hand over room to me. Ilyasbhai's tone and tenor fairly suggested he had been brainwashed by men in plain clothes and he was rude to the point of throwing me out had i not decided to move out. For the next one hour in the heat of Ahmedabad i frantically searched for a room and i zeroed in on Hotel Sohel which had Mr Allauddin at the counter. I stayed for a day and next day i took meals from Hotel Kalapi where the staff including Mr Mahender, Mr Khem Singh and Mr Mahender Singh were quite helpful.

On a Monday evening i left Hotel Sohel a little after 5 pm for airport. Inside airport as passengers including me were about to board a flight, the malfunctioning engine led to a delay of over two hours and we we were told that another flight has been arranged which is coming from Pune. Some men from Gujarat wanted to know the places i visited in their State. They were delighted to hear i had been to Somnath and Dwarkadhish. The Go Air Staff on ground Ashish and Yash Pardeshi in particular looked after passengers quite well.

Finally the Go Air flight took off at 12.50 am and landed in Delhi at 1.55 am. The inflight magazine had some insightful stories like best on-time performing airline for the sixth time in a row. Go Air connects you to 24 domestic destinations and four international destinations with over 240 flights daily. Another story on India's best street food trail from Jaipur's Pyaaz Kachoris to 99 varieties of Bangalorean Dosas and from the iconic Kolkata's Kathi Rolls to the quintessential Mumbai's Pav Bhaji. Two destination in South India which we were prodded to take a look at were Chikmagallur, 243 kms from Bengaluru and second Coorg, 265 kms from Bengaluru.

All in all the stay in Gujarat called for special allegiance to a template where apart from visiting temples one had to be cautious enough to know the source of the water and food that one would take. The best months to visit Gujarat are undeniably September to February.
