Leaving for Byet Dwarka; Conversations

Leaving for Byet Dwarka; Conversations

On a Thursday in Dwarkadhish i left the bed early and after taking tea from Kanubhai and Narainbhai, two different tea centres, a little while later i was all prepared to leave for Byet Dwarka. I board a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation bus and leave Dwarka at 7.03 am, reach jetty at 7.47. The conductor on board is a thorough gentleman. The boat/vessel leaves for Byet Dwarka at 7.55 and reaches its destination at 8.13. We are told that doors to Dwarkadhish Idol will open after 9.30. What else to do but wait endlessly. This thought crosses my mind that why not visit Hanuman Dandi Temple which i am told is 5 kms from here and when i was here the previous time i was told by some people concerned that i should visit the Temple. At that time i had shown least interest. This time if i had availed an auto to and fro journey would have cost rs 400 as against rs 40 for a share ride in Chakda.  I opt for Chakda, popular mode of transport in this part of Gujarat, with equal number of passengers lining up. The chakda is driven by Marubhai and we leave for Hanuman Dandi Temple at 9.15, reach there at 9.35. This temple which has idols of Lord Hanuman and his son is perhaps the sole temple across India . After a short recitation we leave for another temple. From there the chakda departs at 10.05 and reaches Byet Dwarka at 10.25. Mannerism is by and large to be appreciated in Byet Dwarka and beyond. The affable nature of priest of Hanuman Dandi Temple is something to relish.

After Visiting Dwarkadhish Temple in Byet Dwarka waiting for vessel to move

I visit Dwarkadhish Temple in Byet Dwarka for a short duration. The search for laminated picture of Lord Dwarkadhish doesn't yield much. Later i head to the place from where a vessel is to be boarded. Till it is packed to capacity the vessel man won't move and here untoward incident can happen due to overloading. Here authorities are hand in glove with vessel operators and they run the risk of boat capsizing/overturning in the middle of the sea. Those who boarded the vessel first and the point at which the vessel finally moved there is a time lag of over 35 to 45 minutes. Leave Byet Dwarka at 11.20 to reach jetty at 11.35. Take hat from Mr Tapan Tiwari who is honest to the point of returning the Rs 500 note which i mistook for Rs 50 and handed over to him. The people by and large including automen here are honest and that's the clue to their success. When the road linking Byet Dwarka would finally come up the devotees of Lord Dwarkadhish would find it much easier to cross over to other side of the sea.

Leaving for Dwardhish by auto

There is a gentleman with the name Mr Kishore Kumar Kanhaiya who arranges auto for me and i leave jetty at 11.47.  The Automan goes by the name Mr Ajaybhai. At 12.07 pm workers can be seen filing out of a Tata plant and we reach Dwarkadhish at 12.47. In auto i happen to meet Jetabhai. Half an later Automan Dharmeshbhai takes me to railway station. Mr Hari Singh Choudhary hands over  ticket scheduled for Okha Nathdwara train on a Saturday. On the way to station meet Ms Geeta ben and his daughter Vaishali at a store run by them and i am told Harsukhbhai of the same store is taking rest. After taking meals from Annapoorna Bhojanalaya i head to guest house. In the evening i visit Lord Dwarkadhish Temple. A special word of appreciation for Mr Kishorebhai of Anand Novelty (Stationery Shop) who is keen to hand over writing pad and pen as and when sought.

On a Thursday evening i have guests like Hudabhai and his brother who have come from Nageshwar. We broach on a range of subjects. From the time when foundation stone was laid for a road linking Byet Dwarka some two years ago to honesty that is part and parcel of existence in this part of Gujarat we speak for minutes turning to hour intermittent with observations on pollution that drags the City of Delhi to the Crime Cruise that it is witness to. In Delhi especially in colonies of upward hosts and upbringing each household having four to five cars is one steady example of no planning to limit the number of vehicles in the city. His brother is more upbeat on the pollution pestering that tails Delhi and there observations stem from news channel reports and those that appear in newspapers. I tell them i have had some rough sessions as far as my stomach is concerned and this was largely due to heat stroke from staying long in the vessel while visiting Byet Dwarka. We also spoke on the seed money (hafta) that is to be handed over to different authorities if one is in transport business and precisely for that they sold their truck which carried cement from Gujarat to Andhra Pradesh. They suffered losses and this mounting debt forced them to disown this business.

Hudabhai along with other members had been to Uttarakhand State and his experienced was a mixed one while taking a direct train from Ahmedabad to Uttarakhand. From Uttarakhand too they took a direct train to the City of Ahmedabad. They handed over to me a large picture of Nageshwar.

On a Friday i spent considerable time in Dwarkadhish temple and in the melee etching thoughts in a writing pad did not call for any extra effort. After visiting guest house i began to look for a set of key chain the first lot of which i had purchased way back in 2007. I can get hold of just one set as all the stores don't have this set of key chain. As for Mysore Sandal Soap it is hard to get here. The plastic u shaped tongue cleaners which is easy to find in South India i get handful of them from Gandhi General Store. Later i settle for meals which essentially consists of rice and curd. On more than one occasion i had tea from Krishna Vijay Tea Centre and here i was lucky enough to meet Jigneshbhai, Batukbhai and Shyambhai. A special word of appreciation for Dwarkesh Amul for giving me over seven sets of curd at different point of time. A special word of appreciation for Manbhavan Harikrupa Cold Corner for handing me plastic spoon. Kanubhai in particular was kind enough to hand over black tea in the early morning hours.
