Leaving Somnath for Dwarkadhish in Gujarat in India; Visiting Nageshwar

Leaving Somnath for Dwarkadhish; Visiting Nageshwar

After i left Somnath after three day stay the temple thoughts reminded me of my first sojourn to Somnath Temple way back in May 2005. At that point of time large containers of milk could be easily spotted being carried by milk vendors to temple to be offered to Lord Somnath and frisking was non existent as against two layers that we are  witness to nowadays. At that time i was visiting Somnath from Gir Sasan where i had gone to do a story on Asiatic Lions. Why frisking has come in places across country is hard to guess but the fact of the matter is the more they would engage in misadventure the more they would be required to seek such measures.  It is automan Mr Daddoo bhai who is kind enough to drop me at Somnath station and his mannerism is to be appreciated. I smile at the police personnel probably an RPF (Railway Protection Force) man at Somnath station and he returns the smile.

There is a sole train that connects Somnath to Dwarkadhish. At Somnath Station i meet Mr S Sin who stays about 30 to 40 kms away from Somnath and is associated with GTPL the company that provides cable and net connections across Gujarat. Mr S Sin is kind enough to offer seat at the station. The train i am in leaves Somnath at 10.35 pm and reaches Dwarka after 7.30 the next morning. There is Okha-Howrah train stationed on Platform One. There are no porters at Dwarkadhish station and passengers are left to fend for themselves as they are supposed/made to carry the luggage from Platform no 2 to a parking lot. A shared auto ride takes me to Balaji Bhawan. With the manager looking a bit reluctant and in two minds, i find it more appropriate to seek room in Agarwal Seva Sadan in Dwarkadhish. I may take a room in Balaji Bhawan the next time. In Dwarkadhish meet Mr Jeta bhai of Dwarkapuri Guest House asking me to take room in Yamuna Guest House. Meet fruit vendor Mr Jayesh. Meet Mr Vijlibhai and Mr Rajeshbhai. Meet automan Mr Parasbhai.

Leaving Dwarkadhish for Nageshwar Temple

In Dwarkadhish it is automan Mr Dhirubhai who takes me to Nageshwar Temple which has Lord Shiva Jyotirlinga. Nageshwar is one of the 12 Shiva Jyotirlingas in India. Leave Dwarkadhish at 10.10 am and reach Nageshwar at 10.40. After putting in prayers and etching thoughts in a diary, i come out of temple where i meet young girl Amisha who puts chandan on my forehead. My best wishes to Amisha and her family members. Meet Mr Meeru who is kind enough to give picture of mine. There is Mr Naresh one of the staff members of Shivam Dining Hall run by Mr Huda bhai whom i speak to on phone who is away in Dwarkadhish. A beaming private security guard greets me when i reach Nageshwar and this security guard is different from Mr Rajkumar Gautam whom i met last year and he was equally cheerful at that time.

Leave Nageshwar at 12.40,  reach Dwarkadhish at 1.10 pm. It is necessary to point out that automan Mr Dhirubhai is well mannered and during course of the journey doesn't engage in any histrionics.

According to Mr Kishorebhai of Anand Novelty (stationery shop) Dwarkadhish temple is more than 5,000 years old. The Gomti river which flows there has its own pace and current, moves in stipulated time and stipulated direction. Lord Dwarkadhish was born in Mathura, spent youth in Gokul. Later came to Dwarkadhish and resided in Byet Dwarka. The Temple has round the year glory. In Dwarkadhish in Annapoorna Bhojanalaya meet  Gaurav, Rana, Prakash and Ameera ben. Ameera  ben is quite old and is able to place me.

In Agarwal Seva Sadan meet Mr Dhirubhai Ambani, Mr Maharajbhai, Mr Balrambhai, Mr Yagneshbhai and Mr Mahenderbhai and all of them make extra effort to make my stay comfortable. I even hand over Lord Govinda's (Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala) pictures to Mr Yagnesh Kumar V Upadhyay and his staff. Only once i had full-fledged meals at this guest house, the rest of the time rice with curd and it was good on stomach.

On a Thursday i leave the bed by 4 am and head to a tea centre run by Mr Narainbhai. I leave for Byet Dwarka by 6.30.  The ride to Byet Dwarka Jetty is accomplished in a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSTC) bus.
