Clearing The Air on Radia Red Tapes: A No Show by Puneet Rajhans

Clearing The Air on Radia Red Tapes: A No Show by Puneet Rajhans

The debate/dissection convergence and divergence of views in the Naya Daur Television (NYDTV) didn't take us anywhere. Lasted for 45 minutes (it would have gone further had the viewers not sent feedback to wrap it up or we will wrap you up), the longest to date with no break, the panel had four college buddies or having studied in the proximity of one college or the other, Dileep, Sanjay, Manu and Swapan. They were there to let the GE clear the air on the bouquets she received for speaking repeatedly to one Radia for days together and following this with shutting all lines of communication with another Radia for other number of days and brickbats she received for not putting in her script for TV or print what conspired between them and what they aspired for. Calm and composed the foursome were never in the picture howsoever hard they would have tried . THe sample of debate illustrates that at no point of time they raked up the cash or any other favour exchanged during conversation that this Radia had with that GE; in fact GE herself brought it up much to her consternation.

Of the lot on panel and in proximity (those not visible to the naked eye and holding the board saying that one minute was all that was left) the best was yet to come and never came from foursome as they kept a lot of ideas and questions to themselves when they saw GE repeated threat to take the debate to a different level where the discourse would have been on media ethics which was not what they had gathered for and gone for under single unbreakable roof. The one who was supposed to clear the air appeared to be losing cool and weeping was the probable next act to follow. The moderator was no good. The moderator could be faulted for not sensitising GE that of all things she should not let emotions get better of her.
The discourse/debate finally ended as one measuring the emotional quotient with four college buddies betraying no emotions for better part as they had no answers in their grip and GE and moderator leaving the audience with nothing to brood over. Just to brood over that this act of dissection should have been avoided in the first place.

The high point of the debate, well there were none, some remnants of that could be traced later were: manu ready to take lessons from the high profile celebrated writer once the Kasturba Times assignments are over; a lobbyist is entitled to lobby between two political parties as long as as her monthly phone records and bills can be traced and managed; the other editors of other channels not being contacted by this radia as she slept the entire night and operated in the early morning hours only; of manu repeatedly telling the writer-cum-moderator that she hasn't answered her first question since she has been busy writing the Kasturba Times assignments (the error of judgement of 2009 to be repeated in 2010); of Sanjay's repeated assertion that he would like to take this debate from where he left in CNN EyeBeenNone that in their attempt to do stories and gauge the flow the media honchos speak to a variety of people with varied interest. The soft line he was prepared to go with. Who he wants to fool? THe N Rams and A Shouries have set the record straight.

This programme should not have been aired in the first place as the celebrated writer has been busy with her Kasturba Times and moderating assignments. At no point it cleared anything except make a shrinking tribe skip meals and their much-deserved sleep. This was an orchestrated attempt from their stable and more are to follow later .
The aftereffects were some reporting high temperatures and some seeing a revolt in their tummy. Shame on the print and electronic media to continue with the same arrangement with their dogged refusal to come clean
