Not the nature of raids and the persons on whom the RBI-turned-CBI sleuths swooped on this week and the previous one that ruffled this Karunanidhi's feathers. This Karuna maintained that Alarming and Antagonising (both rolled in one) was the timing of the raid and the duration it lasted. Considering the lost-and-traced tribe on the radar of investigators were the first one to step out early morning from their homes to wrap up daily purchases as being out of bounds from the world at large was the price to be paid when sleuths attempted to park themselves at their place. More disgusting as Karuna maintained was the repeated efforts of the intruders-turned-investigators of premier investigation agency to spell out their set of demands before they stepped out of their office to step in office-cum-residences that were to be raided.

As these intruders of the past recently crowned as the investigators of the present parked themselves for hours turning to days it brought out the import of the exercise before them but what did not come out were the hours tossed between waking and working hours. For a sizeable party that came knocking at the doorsteps a sizeable part of stay was spent snoring elaborately followed by elaborate stomach filling. The wandering folks in between broke wind and broke cushions and cutleries to get to the bottom of the case. Settled at the bottom of the heap for the investigators the bottom of the case eluded them but not eluding the grilled janata was the sustained slander campaign on incriminating documents of intimidating nature that were seized and to be preserved till eternity.

I as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu doubling as the indispensable ally of UPA aloo take offence to this tale of incrimination and intimidation. Let me set the record straight. This Raja resigned more than a month ago setting the stage for raids and reverberations to take its normal course. I drafted the letter of resignation which this Raja resisted till the last moment. The CBI was in no mood/ order to deliver taking a leaf from Parliament's repeated adjournment disorder. It took more than three weeks for CBI to get its house in order to reach this Raja's house and fix the prevailing disorder. Tightlipped which the CBI was all these months it began to open its lips by boasting of incriminating documents seized and preserved after every such visible raid. In effect what is in their possession is the intimate pictures of intimate moments truly reflected through exchange of letters between past, present and prospective flames. How could this be incriminating when the intimacy between interested parties had been vibrating?

Not stopping at heaps of incrimination hurled at him and his family, this Karuna continued further by stating that when he is destined to appropriate myself as the longest serving King of the South, the Cong wants to play a spoilsport. By suggesting the inappropriate response of 2008-2009 would be addressed with more than desired appropriateness in 2010-11, i am in entire agreement with the Opposition that had the Cong-led govt at the centre appropriately responded to this scam then and there itself desired results would have flown much earlier eventually leading to delivery of desired results in the ensuing assembly polls. THis Centre's bomshell is no match for the bombshell i am going to drop.
The one-page statement released from Karuna's stable: " As a matter of fact Karuna and Amma in a fitting response to more than desired response of Cong at Centre have appropriately decided to contest polls as fractured entities to be assembled as one entity post polls with the CM's chair on a rotation basis. Disjointed at polls to be restored as one soul post polls is our way to check appropriate levels of impropriety that Cong has repeatedly engaged in. THis contractual agreement between the two Dravidian blocks is commensurate with none holding a tea party for any grouping in the foreseeable future."
For political watchers who ate and slept politics day in day out what was baffling was how could this Amma share stage with that Karuna. In the interdependent world we live in and the intimacy we share with friends and foes the Parliament House getting in order is more appropriate than letting the institution of CBI go past disorder and target and annihilate those whose bench strength in the Lower House is not intimidating. A bench strength of close to 40 MPs (ADMK, DMK AND Other appearing disappearing groups in the State)would be intimidating enough to check the Cong-directed CBI from declaring the quantum of documents seized as incriminating and intimidating when in effect they were pictures of intimacy preserved for posterity.

Another riposte to the intruders-turned-investigators from Karuna was : "The multiple raids by multiple agencies involving multiple intruders would have a multiplier effect on the polity of the nation. The arithmetic of those for and against Cong's continuance at the CEntre may not change for now but what is in store is the drastic change that this charge of the RBI-turned-CBI may bring in. "Is Raid Ki Goonj Door Tak Jayegi." To which the Cong rebuttal was " Is desh ke itihash mein na kabhi aisa Raja hua hai or na hoga. From Executive, Legislature, Judiciary to the Fourth Estate Is Raja ne apna ehsas sab ko karaye. Aise ehsas ki bhi kya zaroorat jo hamari zaroorato ko na pura karein."

Few months later Amma and Karuna met at the house warming party entirely different from the tea triggered paparazzi out to decide on the next course for Raja whose membership to any party in the state had ceased to exist. Of all the institutions that our Raja has touched upon and teared apart one office that has remained untouched and immune has been the President's one. Details are yet to emerge on the possible fallout from Raja's possible positioning for Raisina Hills. Perhaps this was the Goonj that Karuna-who-could-never-be-Katrina was talking about.
