As sleuths moved inside this A Raja's residence to undertake the mopping job which had been withheld ever since he withheld the decision to resign and having resigned once withheld the decision to come out with facts known and only known to him. If at all the blame has to be fixed, you need to trace the calls of lobbyists and associates-turned-lobbyists. "
As this piece of information trickled out for the journos collected there to cover the CBI proceedings and the proceedings that would follow later they were taken aback by Raja's attempt to cover up and cover those who report to him.
In between sleuths gathering facts and journos babbling acts there was another group of journos who were explicit in detail about the pain and suffering they have been subjected to ever since they took to this profession. The professed loyalty to lawyer-turned-proprietor is not enough. The juicy bits that we are told to cover and the sense that we are asked to make of a non existent story turns us down. Some were clear in their argument that their continuance in the profession is linked to the big bashes thrown by the television and print set-ups. As the scribes weren't getting any piece of information from inside where CBI sleuths had parked came this piece of news that BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu wanted the probing janata to go to the bottom of the truth. No sooner Naidu had spoken about getting to the bottom of the pit came SC's observation that all files relating to deal signed sealed and delivered since 2001 in telecom department should be looked into. But CBI sleuths decision to stay put in their offices and question Raja stemmed from the near revolt by scribes at Raja's place when these sleuths had gone inside and for over 12 hours the scribes had parked themselves outside.
Probably the queries that would be part of the investigation of Raja would circle around the number of hours he is tossed between sleeping and waking and and how his more than visible followers are taking in their stride the unfolding suspense on Raja the leader and Raja the 2G inheritor. Perhaps the clue to Karuna backing Raja too would be thrown open to investigation with Raja suggesting the disproportionate charges that have been levelled against him are not at all proportionate to the proportionate empire he presided over.
The view is not much would come out in the CBI's face to face with Raja, and summing the sum and substance of the entire day proceedings would be a one line statement from CBI's band baza: "In view of incriminating documents seized from Raja's house and the incriminating piece of evidence collected in the face to face investigation the CBI is of the view that a case of Raja's culpability is strong but not strong enough to keep him in our headquarters for long.
The word that came out from CBI and not part of the statement was during the entire investigation this Raja stayed mum and his lips movement visible when calls came from Karuna whom he could not shun. The Raja's act of defiance and Karuna's act of support are the twin new responsibilities on our hands and we need to apprise the Supreme Court that extra days beyond Jan-Feb would be required to break the Raja-Karuna Fort. Perhaps by that time this Raja would have begin to sing and Karuna's support would have begin to wink.
And the scribes screamed in unison: Is Kahani ki koi subah nahin . Perhaps the prospective occupant of 2A M N Marg was the story the scribes could not shun.
