Walk the Trap: From this Ratan to that Rajeev by Puneet Rajhans

Walk the Trap: From this Ratan to that Rajeev by Puneet Rajhans

The space taken by this Rajeev Chandrashekhar's letter to that Ratan Tata and that Ratan's rebuttal to this Rajeev is unimaginable if you look at Page 16 of our very own Prime of India. A full page Delhi Jal Board ad had been finalised for this page but given the recovery of booty from the house of a DJB employee two days ago the deal fell through. The paper had no option but to chide the two corporate members-turned-letter writers on the need to write such extensive letters and get it prominently displayed in the prime daily of the Capital. The wealth of information the two have on each other is now out in the open. No one had the time and opportunity to go through the content of the letters the two wrote to each other on different dates, in fact Rajeev writing one more and that too on a different date.

It has portions from which an extensive debate can be carried out in the print-forgotten-electronic-enslaved media, probably featuring on its panel the Vitriolic Sharma (some suggest he tries to take the debate to a new low)and least tolerable Sugalta Seth (his open threats to other panelists are his trademark). This is essentially to do with Ratan's emphasis that some members of the media need to do some introspection and soul searching on whether they are serving the masters or public. Introspection they have refrained from doing so and soul searching towards which they never made an attempt as they were busy tearing the souls of all those who wanted to play big overlooking their interests. Probably the journos are masters in their own right and Ratan's plea for introspection is essentially to question the need for these journos to be in line with once-nadia-and-now-radia entity day in and day out.

AS This Ratan has maintained that Radia was doing her job, the intent never suspect, it was intrusion by the more-than-interested journos that led her to stray. Had she been strictly in line with the brief handed by the corporates she would have never strayed and never been in line with these journos on day to day basis. THese journos have brought her down and brought down all possibilities of communication with her. It is the mind boggling transition the journos attempted to have through this radia that finally led to her mind boggling interaction with the ED leading to a line where she was supposed to spell her side of the story and the story the journos repeatedly refused to do.

As this Ratan has spoken about that Rajeev parking himself at Taj Mahal Hotel in pursuit of his agenda, this essentially is in response to that Rajeev speaking about the conduct and performance of Tata of late which is entirely under dispute given the oath of transparency and transition the TATA GROUP took. Probably the Prime of India in not at fault.

What is at fault is the walk the trap invite where guests willingly walk into a trap to talk their heart out. The walk the trap invite opened floodgates as this corporate honcho expressed more than he would have desired leading to a series of letters and litany of complaints from near and-not-so-near ones. Had he kept the lid on estranged ties with the media and musclemen, perhaps no paper on earth would have carried the letter in toto which also brings out in open that this Ratan for the moment is out of bounds to sew another deal and that Rajeev with no House session is idling away his time. Perhaps the expertise of the two on letter writing is also out in the open. What is not out in the open in the exchange between the two is the tamil entries in the diary seized from this Raja's Kingdom which apart from his financial pursuits also talks at length on the laxatives he has been taking in view of the sleepless nights he has been having ever since that Nadia-turned-Radia stopped taking his calls and on a continued basis been in line with firangi players to figure out the nature of raids and nature of meals that CBI sleuths take when they pay you a visit.

As for some other thing that is not out in the open is the different invites that stare the two honchos once House returns to a functioning and delivery session and Ratan returns to the country taking this opportunity to declare again his unsuccessful foray into some other sector apart from aviation as down payment demanded by the establishment was beyond your and mine imagination. Against this declaration if this corporate honcho doggedly refuses to walk into the trap the heat won't be on him and on the paper to carry the letter in true letter and spirit. After all who doesn't want to take a look at the Delhi Jal Board full page Ad featuring the vacancies that have come up under their stable and the attributes they are looking for. After all this Rs 50 lakh that DJB employee, serving as Upper Division Clerk, stored at home is no small feat and truly reflects the potential this sector has for you and me.
